Everyone who encounters George Strait—the King of Country Music—inevitably becomes enamored.
They may even become incapable of forming words.
George Birge and Parker McCollum both have tales of how they first encountered Strait. And Scotty McCreerydoes.
In a recent interview with Adison Haager of Taste of Country, McCreery was asked when he had the opportunity to meet the “Check Yes or No” hitmaker in person. He claims that when they met in person, he was at a loss for words.
“So I had talked to him on the phone before we met in person, but when we met in person, he was behind me and he tapped me on the shoulder and was like, ‘Scotty?'” “Damn Strait” is a single that McCreery released.
“I turned around and it was George and I think I said, ‘H-h-hello?'”
The singer of “Five More Minutes” isn’t hesitant to acknowledge that he “did not play it cool.”
“It kind of feels like you just know him …” McCreery says. “You grow up listening to all his music, he’s the King, but it’s just like, ‘Man, you been on my speakers my whole life.'”
The 2022 single “Damn Strait” by McCreery is a tribute to the monarch. The music videowatch is also available here.
