Do You Remember These Classic Christmas Commercials?

Everybody remembers the wonders of childhood during this time of year. Watching TV specials like Claymation Christmas, Rudolph, and A Charlie Brown Christmas are some of my favorite Christmastime memories as a millennial. Naturally, that also meant seeing ads for places we could visit or toys I could ask Santa for.

It isn’t until you hear an old advertisement that transports you back to your early years that you realize how powerful advertising is. You can bet your bottom dollar that I can still sing the Folgers jingle, even though I can’t recall what I did yesterday or why I entered a room at any particular moment. And what became of the family and Peter?

We were streaming a show the other day when a vintage Hershey’s Kisses commercial aired. Do you recall the kisses that sound like a choir of bells? We Wish You A Merry Christmas is the song they play. Simple yet quite sentimental. It made me consider other noteworthy holiday advertisements.

similar to these holiday advertisements for fast food restaurants. A few of those McDonald’s Christmas ornaments are still in my possession. Each year, we adorn the tree with them. How awesome it is to have Johnny Cash in this Lionel train commercial, even though it was before my time. According to the video’s comments, Lionel trains were the ultimate Christmas gift for boys.

To be honest, as a child, I couldn’t tell if this was smart or spooky, but it certainly made me crave Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup!

There are HOURS of vintage Christmas advertisements in this video. Wear this while wrapping gifts. As each catchy melody plays, you’ll relish the memories that come flooding back. It also serves as a stark reminder of how cheap things were decades ago.
