Parker McCollum Slams Autotune Allegations From Oliver Anthony

A notion that Parker McCollumis had used autotune modulators during a performance prompted him to defend his musical authenticity.

McCollum is seen addressing the camera from a horseback on a trail in the woods in a social media video. “Never ever ever one time have I used autotune or a drum loop or anything fake of any kind onstage,” he says.

“Me and my guys are rippin’ it, the real deal, every single night,” he continues.

Why Is Parker McCollum Defending His Live Show?

Last Friday, December 6, Oliver Anthony posted a YouTube vlog titled “What I’ve Learned From the Music Industry So Far.”

A story of Anthony performing at the Carolina Country Music Fest last June and witnessing another performer who used “six autotune modulators on a pedal board onstage” to aid with vocal pitch is included in the broad 15-minute film.

Although he didn’t mention names, people made the connection because McCollum’s performance at that event came after Anthony’s, according to the festival program.

What Was Parker McCollum’s Response?

Even though Anthony didn’t identify anyone in his video, McCollum made it clear that he intended to respond to what Anthony had said.

The singer of “Burn it Down” emphasized that any suggestion that he performs live with the aid of artificial assistance is a “100 percent fabricated lie.”

“It has never appeared in a single segment of our program. There wasn’t a single note that wasn’t real, unadulterated, and spontaneous,” McCollum goes on. And that won’t ever alter. As a true band, we will never stop performing and doing our best to uphold the integrity of country music.

“So that’s all I got to say on it, and that’s where it needs to end,” he continues.

In his post’s caption, McCollum restated his ideas, suggesting that there might have been “a mix up” regarding the performance or festival Anthony was referring to in his vlog.

“But can confirm we have never once used any backing tracks or tuning and will never be true for my live show,” he says.
