In the event of a catastrophic disaster, flying in a helicopter might be the best course of action for your health, but it might not be the most cost-effective alternative.
The high expense of medical transportation is being brought to light by an accident victim who fell from a moving car.
How The Accident Happened
On TikTok, Shauntay Aichner revealed that she and her boyfriend were delivering gifts at the time of the mishap.
Aichner got up from her seat to make a change in the back of the truck as the two of them were in a van. The cushion had flipped up by the time she got back to the passenger seat.
The doors of the delivery van were open when Aichner lost her balance and flew out of it. She needed to be evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment after suffering multiple second-degree burns.
Viral Helicopter Bill Video
Over the past few weeks, Aichner has been updating her TikTok followers on her recuperation. Until she was presented with a bill for her helicopter excursion, everything appeared to be going well.
In a video with almost 17 million views, Aichner explains, “The ride was about 15 minutes if that, and they didn’t give me any medicine or anything.” “They literally just took me from point A to point B and didn’t talk or nothing.”
Aichner claims that the snapshot of the bill for her airlift to the hospital is behind her in the video. It comes to $68,815.
The airlift after the accident would have cost almost $4,600 per minute if she is right when she says the ride only took fifteen minutes. Aichner added that she has no insurance.
Many commenters pointed out that outside of the United States, the cost of helicopter medical transport is frequently significantly lower. According to a Canadian commentator, that would be more like $80.
“I’m from the U.K. and this blows my mind,” commented another TikToker. “What happens if you can’t pay?”

It would have been less expensive, some joked, for Aichner to arrange her own private conveyance.
One person remarked, “And a helicopter tour costs like $800,” “Should’ve booked on TripAdvisor.”
