I’m Emotional About Jelly Roll’s Daughter’s Full-Circle Career Choice

In addition to having some lofty aspirations and plans for her future, Jelly Roll’s adolescent daughter Bailee Ann is beginning to consider the college application process.

During her recent appearance as a guest on the Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, Bailee answered a fan question regarding her career goals.

Bailee declares, “I want to study law at Columbia [University].” “… Criminal defense.”

Naturally, Bailee’s family has strong feelings about that topic. Her father was in and out of jails and juvenile detention centers for almost ten years prior to becoming famous. When Jelly was a teenager, almost the same age as Bailee now, he even received a felony conviction for violent robbery.

He believes that the day he found out that Bailee was born, while he was incarcerated, was one of the pivotal moments in his life, when he decided to end the cycle of recidivism and incarceration and provide a stable home for his daughter.

Felicia Beckwith, Bailee’s mother, has also struggled with chronic addiction and served several jail terms. Bailee has been living with Jelly and Bunnie for a number of years after they were successful in their legal battle for full custody of her.

  • Early this year, Bailee opened up about her childhood and her relationship with her mom in an episode of Bunnie’s podcast.
  • She shares that she reconnected with her mom in 2020, when Beckwith was sober and living in recovery housing.
  • But a couple of years later, things started to go downhill when Beckwith began drinking and using drugs again, and enabled Bailee then about 14 to drink and use along with her.
  • Bailee got sober after an intensive therapy session with Jelly and Bunnie, and after cutting off contact with her mom.

The teenager now claims that she wants to be active in altering the criminal justice system because of her own experience with it.

Bunnie remarks, “I mean, the whole judicial system is corrupt,” at one point during the discussion.

Bailee concurs, “It’s wild, to be honest,” And I believe that’s a contributing factor in my strong interest in it, as I genuinely hope to upend the legal system. And doing so from within is the most effective method.

However, she believes that one portion of it would be too challenging for her to participate in.

“I don’t think I could handle anything involving children. She acknowledges, “I couldn’t do kids.”

Fans questioned whether Bailee intended to follow in her father’s footsteps in the music industry. “Tears Could Talk” is a duet that was recorded in 2020 and was inspired by Bailee’s turbulent childhood. The little girl is a gifted singer and songwriter, and she and Jelly have even collaborated on songs.

“As for music, I don’t have any plans to do it right now,” Bailee states.
