Historical Illinois Town Named Best in Nation for Thanksgiving

One Illinois town is receiving recognition as one of the top destinations for travelers looking to escape town for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Galena

This Thanksgiving, Country Living is promoting Galena, Illinois, which is well-known for its small-town charm, unique stores, and historical sites.

Many people tell me that Galena is a fun and charming town to visit, but I haven’t been there yet. It’s definitely on my bucket list, and I want to visit Galena someday so I can share in its charms with everyone else.

Hermann, Missouri

Hermann is one of Missouri’s jewel towns and is on the list of places to visit on Thanksgiving. Germann is the ideal weekend retreat, with wineries, hundreds of German heritage restaurants and boutiques, and more.

This is the spot to go if you need a quick getaway, but I’m not sure whether it’s the ideal place to take the kids. This year’s “Shop Small Business Saturday” shopping will be fantastic.

Visit Country Living to get the whole list of 38 towns to visit.
