Middletown Man Charged With Sexually Abusing Child Across Multiple Locations

Accused of sexually abusing a young child more than a dozen times in three separate locations, a Middletown man is On Tuesday, Connecticut State Police charged 60-year-old Scott Predom on suspected summer 2023 incidents in Willington. Predom was also charged by Enfield police in April with allegedly occurring events inside their area of responsibility.

An arrest warrant from Connecticut State Police indicates that Enfield police discovered the Willington sexual assaults during an inquiry and reported the matter to state police detectives.

Late February saw an Enfield police investigator meet with a relative of the victim to go over claims of sexual assault. The victim, a 14-year-old lad, was sending indecent text messages to Predom, according to the relative, a 54-year-old woman. She claimed she came into the books after another relative—a little girl—found the messages while browsing the boy’s phone—the warrant stated.

According to a comprehensive Enfield police report included in the warrant, the lad was questioned in March and revealed “numerous incidents of sexual abuse by Predom.” According to the youngster, Predom sexually attacked him more than twenty times over three years in several locations, including Willington, East Hampton, and Enfield.

Wednesday, East Hampton Police Chief Dennis Woessner reported that Predom is under active investigation by his office.

The warrant from state police claims that the lad Predom sexually molested him several times while parked in a cemetery in Willington. The youngster claimed things happened when he was 13 years old, which led authorities to conclude the events happened in summer 2023.

Predom was arrested by Enfield police on April 21 about claimed incidents in that town. There he is charged with three charges of fourth-degree sexual assault, three counts of illicit sexual contact, and single counts of danger of injury to a child and tempting a juvenile.

State police officers visited Predom at the state Superior Court in Hartford the next day for more interrogation. Based on the warrant, Predom confirmed in the questioning that he touched the young man and that the young man “started the sexual encounter.”

According to middletownpress, State police informed Predom during the interrogation that his story had contradictions. Predom grew agitated and quickly called off the interview by rising from his seat and declaring, “That’s it we’re all through, goodbye,” investigators noted on the warrant.

Predicting the risk of injury to a juvenile, illegal sexual contact with a minor under the age of sixteen, Connecticut State Police charged Predom Tuesday with second-degree and third-degree sexual assault.

Predom is being paid in place of a bail of $1.5 million. Regarding the Enfield matter, he is expected to show up at Hartford’s state superior court on July 31 He is set for a remote hearing on Aug. 16 in the Willington case; court records show.
