Without any background, Zach Top appears to be a country music sensation from the 1990s. He is all country, from his cowboy hat and pearl snaps to his blue trousers and belt buckle.
Even the singer’s facial hair pays homage to the history of country music; the 27-year-old sports a traditional mustache that was in style at the time.
Nick & Kristen, a Portland morning radio program, tested Top’s understanding of the decade’s country music. He was asked to recognize a number of 1990s country musicians based solely on their whiskers.
What do you believe he did, then?
The man left no crumbs after eating, let’s say.
Without doubt, the “Sounds Like the Radio” hitmaker identified Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, and others in the pictures.
The presenter even attempted to deceive Top by using deep edits, similar to those used by Aaron Tippin and George Strait’s character in the film Pure Country, but Top’s expertise was too great for them.

Who Is Zach Top?
After impressing the internet with his throwback sounds, Top truly established himself in the country music industry in 2024. His first single, “Sounds Like the Radio,” was played on country radio, and on April 5th, he published his first studio album, Cold Beer & Country Music. Last year, the song peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
Additionally, the upcoming vocalist was selected to open for Lainey Wilson’s Country’s Cool Again Tour. During the trek, the two performed a number of songs together, including a boisterous cover of “Take This Job and Shove It” by Johnny Paycheck.
At the end of the year, Top was nominated for his first CMA Award for New Artist of the Year (Megan Moroney would win the prize).
He will next open for Jackson on his The Last Call: One More for the Road Tour in 2025.Through May, the journey will have five performances spread out around the calendar.
