In a recent interview with Evan Paul of Taste of Country Nights, Jay DeMarcus of the Rascal Flatts shared some information about the band that no one has ever actually known.
Did you know that on your wedding day, the Platinum recording artists can be hired to perform their entire hit catalog?
According to Darius Rucker, he once asked for a million dollars to perform at a wedding, and one person accepted. We explained this to DeMarcus, and he laughed.
We then asked him the same thing: How much would it cost for a band like Rascal Flatts to play at a wedding reception?
He spoke as he leaned into the camera:
“I estimate that $3 million would be the cost. For everyone of us, a million.”
DeMarcus told us about a time when a Flatts fan wrote to the band asking if they would attend her wedding, but no one has yet to reserve the trip at that cost. In 2017, Sarah and Brandon got married in Wisconsin.
“We were so compelled by story that we were playing a show that was close to where she was, so we took some cameras and we crashed her wedding,” the singer remembers. “We ended up singing ‘Broken Road.'”
DeMarcus acknowledges, “I was so grateful that we did it, it was something I was dreading,” but after they arrived and performed, his emotions shifted.
“I saw how much it meant to her family and she and her groom, that it was so cool, and I’m so glad we did it,” he continues. It has stayed with him over the years.
In addition, Sarah and Brandon had a memorable night without having to spend $3 million.
The Rascal Flatts are presently juggling a lot of things, including their new country radio single “I Dare You,” which features the Jonas Brothers, and their 25-year reunion Life Is A Highway Tour, which begins in March.
