Taco Bell Introduces Photo Booth + AI For Drive-Thru Customers

Taco Bell, which has begun utilizing AI to handle orders, will take your picture as you are ordering food in their drive-thru.

How Is Taco Bell Using AI In Its Drive-Thru?

Taco Bell, like many other companies, has incorporated AI into its operations. Earlier this year, YUM! Brands, the chain’s parent company, declared that it will increase its usage of AI, especially in its drive-thrus.

“The rollout of Voice AI technology in Taco Bell, currently in more than 100 Taco Bell U.S. drive-thrus across 13 states, is designed to enhance back-of-house operations for team members and elevate the order experience for customers,” the business stated in a July news release.

How is that going, then?

According to Retail Wire, some Taco Bell employees have been expressing “pushback” because they are concerned that AI may someday replace them.

Recently, while working on a story regarding the implementation of AI, reporters from the California-based ABC affiliate KRCR visited a nearby Taco Bell where the technology was already in place. In the drive-thru, the reporters placed 15 orders using an AI-generated voice and had no problems.

According to Retail Wire, Taco Bell expects that AI will make its employees “happier” at work rather than replace them.

Taco Bell Taking Customer Photos In Drive-Thru

In addition to trying to tie it with an impending offer, Taco Bell is now seeking to increase customer excitement about their drive-thru.

The chain has unveiled the Live Mas Drive-Thru Cam, which functions similarly to a gigantic photo booth and can take your picture as you place your food order.

After placing their order, customers drive in front of a camera and pose for six pictures of the driver and passenger sides of the car. After the event, the clients can email themselves access to the pictures. Additionally, according to Taco Bell, some of the “moments” from the promotion will be used in a future Super Bowl commercial.

The Drive-Thru Live Mas Cam has already appeared in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and Los Angeles. Next on the schedule are Cookville, Tennessee, December 10–12; Houston, December 11–13; and Wauchula, Florida, December 17–19.

Taco Bell has a history of using extravagant marketing strategies. Here are some examples of how the restaurant will truly assist with the wedding celebration.
