Snow is Likely this Week in Indiana & Illinois but Will We See Any Accumulation?

Winter is Coming to Indiana & Illinois: Are You Ready for Snow in the Midwest?

Winter is quickly approaching, so I hope you’ve already gotten your snow boots and coveralls! You would think that Evansville is immune to cold weather given that it has been a warm 70 degrees this week. Hey, anything can happen in the Midwest!

Will There Be Any Accumulating Snow in Indiana?

Snow is expected in the northern portion of the state, according to the Indianapolis National Weather Service. Wednesday night and Thursday could bring the season’s first snowflakes, but there is only a chance of minimal accumulation on grassy areas, if any. Returning Wednesday through Friday are gusty winds that can reach 35 mph at times.

Will There Be Any Snow in Illinois?

Snowfall is also anticipated in northern Illinois. On Wednesday evening, the Chicago-based National Weather Service reported that snowfall is also possible. “A chance of rain before 8pm, then a chance of rain and snow between 8pm and 10pm, then a chance of snow after 10pm.” There will be further snowfall on Thursday, first in the morning and again at night.

Will There Be Any Snow in the Southern Parts of the States?

Although snow is not predicted for the southern states, some meteorologists are not discounting the possibility. We do know that the temperature will be far below 70 degrees. On Thursday, the temperature down here in the “south” will plummet to the 20s.

What Should I Do Now?

Get bread, eggs, and milk at the supermarket right away if you haven’t already! I’m kidding. If you must drive, drive slowly. If not, warm up some cocoa and comfort yourself. Winter is here! Make sure you get our app and enable weather alerts.
