Mother Injured in Violent Brentwood Attack While Pushing Newborn, Authorities Say

A mother was walking her 1-month-old kid in Brentwood when a man approached her and grabbed her body, allegedly making sexually suggestive motions before repeatedly punching her in the face, according to police.

Abraham Shily, a 26-year-old Los Angeles man, was arrested Thursday as the suspect in an attack reported earlier this week, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release. He approached the woman as she pushed her infant in a stroller near Gretna Green Way and Mayfield Avenue around 4:40 p.m., according to police, and reportedly attacked her, leaving her gravely injured.

“The suspect approached the victim from behind, grabbed her waist with both hands, and simulated sexual activity, so that his hips made physical contact with the victim,” according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s latest release. “The victim turned around and struck the suspect in the face, who then struck the victim in the face multiple times, causing her to fall to the ground and sustain serious injuries.”

According to CBS, the attacker fled towards Montana Avenue.

Detectives later recognized Shily as the culprit and arrested him on charges of felony violence.
