Local Match Boosts Donations in Evansville’s Red Kettle Countdown

As the yearly Red Kettle campaign nears its conclusion, the Salvation Army of Evansville has revealed a unique local match that will increase your donation.

The holiday season is well underway, as seen by the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. A number of Evansville residents have volunteered to increase each donation given over the course of the next week as Christmas approaches. The Salvation Army of Evansville announced in a news release a brand-new, exciting aspect of their Red Kettle Campaign that will be held at all Red Kettles beginning Thursday, December 19, and ending on Christmas Eve. As part of their new matching challenge, more than $63,000 is ready to be unlocked, thanks to the combined efforts of multiple anonymous local donors. A five-to-one match will be applied to all large bills ($20 and up), converting a $20 donation into $100. The impact of even the smallest gifts will be doubled thanks to the 1:1 matching of donations under $20, from $10 notes to cents.

The Salvation Army’s Southwest Indiana Area Coordinator and Corps Officer, Captain Brandon Lewis, stated that encouraging people to join the cause is just as important as simply giving. This 5:1 match guarantees that kindness will be amplified all year long to help those in need wherever it arises. One $1 at a time, we can all work together to change the world!

Volunteers Still Needed for Red Kettle Campaign in Evansville

You can still support the project by volunteering your time even if you don’t have any additional money to donate. Many one-hour volunteer bell-ringing assignments are still open through Christmas Eve, according to the Evansville Salvation Army. By increasing awareness, volunteer bell ringers can assist raise over $60 in donations every hour. With this unique 5:1 match, that $60 could grow to $300.
