In a new episode of Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, Jelly Roll discusses his contentious and widely shared conversation with Donald Trump, the president-elect and former US president.

However, Jelly is now prepared to share all—or at least a portion of—what transpired during the two men’s in-person meeting.
To give you some background, Jelly claims that when Trump first entered, he passed him and assumed the president-elect was unaware of his identity. He acknowledges that he was a little “sad” that he would not be able to meet Trump. However, one of his group mates told him that it would happen, and a little while later, they were on the other side of the room when Trump and Jelly looked at one other.
“What you don’t see in the video is he gave me the Trump point,” Jelly remarks, half-impersonating and laughing.
Trump gestured for the performer to approach, and when he did, they hugged one other.
“And he puts his hand on my shoulder … and he’s like, ‘I love ‘Save Me,”” Speaking of his popular duet with Lainey Wilson, Jelly narrates. “He’s like, ‘I love ‘Save Me.’ You’re doing incredible things.'”
Jelly claims that Kid Rock, who was standing close by, made the “ultimate homie move” in his subsequent remarks to Trump, so the conversation didn’t finish there. However, Jelly removed Rock’s quote from the final version of Bunnie’s podcast, thus the specifics of his statement remain unknown.
Regarding whether or not Jelly’s support for Trump was demonstrated during the encounter. “It’s really not that simple,” he says. In his most recent interview, the artist reiterated his long-standing claim that he is not political, saying that he dislikes discussing aspects of political policy that he does not comprehend.

“I was not raised in a culture that valued voting. I wasn’t forced to vote by my father. He continues, “My mother didn’t pressure me to vote. However, they did insist that I “respect our president.” My father was real big about, you know, ‘… That’s the hardest job in the world. Respect whoever has it.'”
Jelly says there are certain politicians that he resonates with on specific issues, naming Robert F. Kennedy. Jr. and his background as an addict who’s been through recovery as an example.
But most importantly, he says that he was raised to jump at the chance to meet any U.S. president, no matter what side of the aisle they come from.
“If I had gotten a call at any point to go meet Joe Biden, I would have stopped what I was doing to go meet him. That’s an active president,” he explains. “I wouldn’t care what people thought about, or even what I think about his policies.”
