Iowa City Police Investigate Brutal Assault on Homeless Person Near Public Library

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa City Police Department is investigating to identify individuals who are suspected of being involved in the unprovoked assault that occurred early on Tuesday morning against a homeless person who was sleeping.

In a surveillance video taken at one minute and three seconds on Tuesday morning close to the bike racks at the Iowa City Public Library, a suspect is seen assaulting a homeless person who was sleeping.

Then, at twelve minutes past noon, surveillance footage shows another suspect assaulting the same individual. Additionally, at 1:20 in the morning, the suspects in the same area can be seen on film racing through the alley that is adjacent to the Iowa City Senior Center.

The accused were reportedly traveling on foot with three other individuals, according to the police officer.
