Chicago Is Home To Some Of The Worst Traffic In The World
I have personal experience with the terrible traffic in and around Chicago. Getting anywhere has always taken a very long time, although I grew up in the suburbs. No matter the time of day or the day of the week, you will eventually find yourself in some kind of traffic jam.

As a child, I recall that my dad would frequently be late for dinner due to traffic around rush hour. The highways seem to be under construction all the time, which doesn’t help. You won’t be going anywhere for a while, so grab a Snickers.
You will be stuck in traffic for hours if you add a major event or several events to it. Other cities I’ve visited aren’t as awful as Chicago. Simply put, there aren’t enough lanes or roadways leading into the city.
I attended the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland a few months ago. The venue was completely sold out. The Guardians were playing a sold-out postseason baseball game right next door. In addition to everything else that’s happening in town. It may have taken an additional ten minutes to arrive because to the delay.
A recent research on global traffic was conducted. Chicago is among the worst, which is not surprising. It ranks first in the US, tied with New York City, and second globally, behind Istanbul, for the amount of time lost to traffic.
Scorecard for Global Traffic
Chicago drivers waste 102 hours a year simply sitting in traffic. That’s more than four days altogether. With that type of time, you could go on a lengthy, pleasant road trip. The average speed limit during that congestion is 13 mph. That’s awful.
