The singer-songwriter and his wife, Caleigh, are discussing their parenting plans as Hardy gets ready to become a first-time father.
In an interview with Country Now, Hardy was rather candid about the way people are raising children now and how they won’t be doing the same when they become parents next month.
According to Hardy and his spouse, simply placing an iPad in front of your children is not the best approach when it comes to screen usage.
“I m just an old soul and I m old school in a lot of ways,” the musician and “Truck Bed” performer claims. “And Caleigh, I wouldn t say she s old school, but she has a very good head on her shoulders as far as being prepared and knowing how easy it is to give a kid an iPad just for them to shut up and just be quiet in the corner.”
Setting goals before the child is born can be simpler for first-time parents, and let’s be honest, a screen can be a huge help when parents need a break.
However, Hardy wants his children to have the same upbringing he did, which he recalls from the 1980s and 1990s.
“Come home when the street lights come on” is what he wants his child to be.
When it comes to that, we both simply have excellent heads. Thus, we are ready to prevent it from happening in the future,” Hardy continues, referring to screen time.
“I m really excited for that falling down, getting hurt, all the stuff that we did and we turned out alright.”
As one of Nashville’s most successful songwriters, Hardy is sure to have some dad tunes heading our way once his baby girl arrives in February.
