During the few years I spent in Florida, I believe the lowest temperature was in the 40s. The locals told us we wouldn’t need a winter coat once we moved there. How things have changed, my.
Florida + Snow = Oh No!
I have only ever seen snow in Florida once, and it was at Walt Disney World’s beautiful wonderland. Therefore, I find it absurd to even consider Florida experiencing true winter weather. If it’s going to snow on the beach, we always assume that the forecast is a little wrong. The reports were accurate this time.
Woody, a friend of mine who used to work with me, posted some pictures of the snow. Remember, he’s from Tallahassee, Florida. “I don’t even have a winter coat,” he told me. For heaven’s sake, January is sweatshirt weather.
As the snow started to fall, I can only imagine how chaotic the roads must have been. Here in Indiana, we’re not even accustomed to driving on snow and ice!
Historic Snowfall Amounts in Florida
Some bizarre pictures of real snow on the beach have caught my eye. Additionally, it’s “Weird but @### beautiful,” as Taylor Swift puts it.However, if we were in Panama City Beach, Florida, and the temperature was the same as it is in Southern Indiana, I would be quite depressed.
According to Woody, there was three to five inches of snowfall in Tallahassee. That is actual snowfall, not just dusting. Does that imply that the end is imminent now? Perhaps not, but our friends in Florida would likely value a few sleds and winter gloves as a precaution.
