Evansville’s Christmas on North Main Parade is This Sunday!

After a five-year break, Evansville’s traditional Christmas parade is returning to North Main Street, so get your Santa hats, elf ears, Rudolph antlers, and gigantic vehicle bows ready. This year’s parade promises to be a touching occasion for locals of all ages, with sparkling lights, colorful floats, and upbeat music filling the air.

Evansville’s Christmas Parade Has Been Gone a Long Time

Is it true that the Christmas on North Main Parade hasn’t happened in five years? It has been five years, in my opinion, since the previous parade was held in 2019, according to the Director of Development for the Jacobsville Area Community Corporation, which is in charge of planning this year’s parade. Whoa!

This Sunday, November 24th, is the day for the Christmas on North Main parade and other events. Children are welcome to visit Santa’s Workshop at Hope City Church at 12:30 p.m. before the parade starts. A Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be available to get you in the holiday spirit before the procession starts, and kids can enjoy Christmas crafts, sweets, and games at this fun event!

At 2:30 pm, the procession will start anew in the Civic Center parking lot, also known as the back forty. In order to bring happiness and Christmas magic across Evansville, parade participants will march along North Main Street through the Jacobsville Neighborhood from the intersection at Division Street to Garvin Park. They will be accompanied by a variety of exquisitely decorated floats, bands, and festive performers.

Because of all the happy faces I see, some of which are new and some of which date back a long way, it has always been one of my favorite parades to participate in. The sole disadvantage is that my left hand—the one protruding from the station vehicle window—usually becomes frozen, but it is well worth it to wave to everyone you see.
