Without the Evansville Philharmonic performing Handel’s well-known oratorio Messiah, the Tri-State’s holiday season would not be complete. We are fortunate to have not one, but two outstanding performances this year.

A baroque-sized ensemble consisting of the Evansville Philharmonic ensemble and Evansville Philharmonic Chorus members will accompany Evansville Philharmonic Conductor Roger Kalia. Baritone Zachary Coates, Tenor Eric Ferring, and Soprano Caroline Goodwin will all sing solos during the presentations. Together, they will showcase this masterpiece from the 18th century in its original context.

Where and When Can I See the Evansville Philharmonic Perform Messiah?

Trinity United Methodist Church, situated at Third & Walnut Streets in downtown Evansville, will host this inaugural performance on Friday, December 20 at 7 p.m. The second show is scheduled for Saturday, December 21 at 7 p.m. (EST) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, which is situated at 1029 Kundek in Jasper, Indiana.

Candlelight will fill both sanctuaries as attendees feel the strength and tenderness of the Messiah. The well-known Hallelujah Chorus, The Trumpet Shall Sound, and For Unto Us a Child Is Born will be among the highlights.
