An 81-year-old woman who had been lost for twenty hours in the woods of Michigan was located with the assistance of a police dog, according to the authorities reporting the incident.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) stated in a post that was published on X on July 3 that troopers were dispatched to a residence in Richland Township, which is located in Ogemaw County after a member of the family reported that they had seen the woman the previous evening.
As soon as the officers arrived at the property, they discovered a motorized chair in the garage, in addition to the coat, handbag, and mobile phone belonging to the individual who had gone missing. According to the authorities, the MSP Canine team, Trooper Whited, and Loki, his K9 companion, were brought in to assist with the search.
“Upon arrival, Loki began tracking through the woods behind the residence and discovered a pair of gloves and a walking cane leading down into a steep ravine,” the statement added. “Loki was incredibly helpful in locating these items.” “A short distance later, Loki discovered the elderly woman at the bottom of the ravine, where she was unable to continue moving.”
It was reported by the law enforcement agency that troopers from the Minnesota State Police and first responders assisted in carrying the woman out of the woods as a severe rainstorm came.
After some time had passed, the woman reported to the authorities that she had been missing in the woods for more than twenty hours as per PEOPLE.
The statement made by the MSP did not include any identifying information about the 81-year-old woman, and the authorities did not provide any other details regarding her condition.
