A disagreement turned fatal at an Iowa bar and grill, killing one customer in the parking lot while another waited for authorities to come. This came when 37-year-old Alan James Schultz allegedly went home to retrieve his gun before returning to shoot the victim in the face.
Colby Nelson, 19, was declared dead on the scene in the parking lot of Bootleggers Bar and Grill in Clearfield, Iowa, according to KCCI. Police apprehended Schultz and charged him with first-degree murder.
Taylor County Sheriff’s officers arrived on the scene at 3:30 a.m. on July 4 and discovered Nelson with a gunshot wound to the head and Schultz leaning against an SVU nearby. He admitted to shooting the teen both at the scene and in subsequent interviews with the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.

According to the inquiry, the two males began arguing inside the bar and grill earlier that evening, and then outside in the parking lot. At this time, Schultz rode his motorcycle home, grabbed a loaded revolver, and returned to the institution in a different car.
According to the police report shared with CrimeOnline, Schultz addressed the victim in the middle of the street, as well as “several other individuals,” after exiting the vehicle. According to the statement, he was not carrying his gun at the time. He allegedly walked over to his vehicle, grabbed his revolver, returned, and shot Nelson once in the face.
