The weather is not too horrible; it’s neither freezing nor extremely cold. You and your family have probably had several bowls of chili.
Chili doesn’t appeal to me. I’ll eat it, but I’d rather have something different than the typical recipe. I hate beans! You may omit those, I know. I don’t usually consume chili during the winter months. I’m among those who like their chili with spaghetti noodles and grated cheese on top. Chili dogs don’t appeal to me either.
But if you enjoy hot dogs, cheese, and chili, you’ve tried Cincinnati Skyline Chili. Their recipe includes:
“a soupy mixture of ground beef, water or stock, tomato paste, and spices like clove, cumin, chili powder, bay leaf, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon.” Contrary to popular belief, the meal does not contain chocolate. Standard toppings include beans, onions, and cheddar cheese; “ways” refer to particular combinations of toppings. The “three-way” is the most common order, which adds shredded cheese to the “two-way” spaghetti with chili. The “four-way” or “five-way” adds beans and/or onions before the cheese is added. Ways are frequently served with a little spicy sauce and oyster crackers. Bowls of Cincinnati chili are rarely offered or consumed.
Now picture vanilla ice cream with all of these ingredients. There have been a lot of crazy ice cream combinations and tastes, but this is a new level of insanity or inventiveness.
On Monday, January 27, Graeter’s Skyline Chili Ice Cream will be accessible. Alternatively, there are numerous Graeter’s Ice Cream shops throughout Cincinnati, as well as several in Louisville and Lexington, if you would want to stop by. Although it hasn’t been announced yet, I’m willing to wager that the ice cream will be sold in the cities mentioned above.
Would you give it a shot? Yes, I would.
