Mississippi Man Charged With Murder of Mother and Girlfriend Denied Bail (1)

A Mississippi man accused of killing his mother and girlfriend has had bail denied.

Judge Beck of Winston County Justice Court denied Carlos Daniels, charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, bail over the weekend.

At about 6:12 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, the Winston County Sheriff’s Department got a 911 call from a worried citizen living on Zion Ridge Road regarding seeing bloodied bed linens and clothes inside their garbage can. Arriving on the scene, deputies seized the items—which investigators started treating as evidence.

At about 4:47 p.m., the Winston County Sheriff’s Department answered a 911 call concerning a welfare check at 2920 Zion Ridge Road. The doors were locked when deputies got to the house, hence they entered through the window. Two dead bodies were found once within the house. Deputies quickly locked down the area and called the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations Crime Scene Unit to come process it.

Investigators started interviewing relatives and friends in the meantime. These interviews let Investigators decide Carlos Daniels was a person of interest. Investigators also acquired Carlos Daniels’ vehicle’s description, and deputies started searching the county for it.

On the same day, Carlos Daniels had been observed leaving the crime site residence at about 10:00 am.
