2025 Grammys to Go On, But Will Raise Money for Wildfire Relief Efforts

The Grammys are continuing despite the horrific wildfires in Southern California, while many other events during the 2025 awards season are in jeopardy.

On Monday, January 23, the Recording Academy declared that the performance will proceed as scheduled and will also be utilized to generate funds for local wildfire relief efforts.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares, and Tammy Hurt, head of the academy’s board of trustees, issued the following statement, per Billboard:

Everyone impacted by the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles has our deepest sympathies. We grieve the deaths and devastation that have occurred in this city in recent days because it is our home.”

The 67th Grammy Awards show on CBS on February 2 will go forward as scheduled, with careful collaboration with local authorities to guarantee public safety and responsible use of local resources. But this year’s show will have a new mission: to recognize the courage and commitment of first responders who put their lives in danger to save ours, and to raise more money to support relief efforts for wildfires.

Mason and Hurt add that nothing has the capacity to soothe, heal, and bring people together like music does during trying times. In addition to celebrating the talent and accomplishments of our music industry, the Grammys will provide a forum for highlighting the tenacity that characterizes this wonderful city of Los Angeles.

To help those in the music industry affected by the wildfires, the Recording Academy and MusiCares have already committed $1 million in aid. The Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort has been started by both organizations.
