City of Evansville Announces Winter Storm Debris Disposal Site

Perhaps Mother Nature felt undervalued or neglected. I’m not sure who or what offended her, but she undoubtedly let loose her fury on us, giving 2025 a memorable (for all the wrong reasons) start.

Trees and branches were snapped around the area by Winter Storm Blair’s snow, ice, and freezing rain. You most likely have ice-covered branches in your yard if you have trees on your property. When the weather clears up, have you made a decision about what to do with them? Beginning on Friday, January 17, Vanderburgh County and the City of Evansville will collaborate to offer a convenient location for the disposal of tree debris!

Collected storm-damaged trees, branches, and woody shrubs should be gathered; however, any leaves, grass clippings, or ordinary yard garbage should be left behind. Nor is trash included in the mix. Commercial establishments will have to search elsewhere because this service is only available to residents, so make sure you carry identification that proves your residency, such as your driver’s license.

Drop-Off Schedule:

  • Friday, January 17: 9 AM – 4 PM
  • Saturday, January 18: 9 AM – 1 PM
  • Wednesday, January 22: 9 AM – 4 PM
  • Thursday, January 23: 9 AM – 4 PM
  • Friday, January 24: 9 AM – 4 PM
  • Saturday, January 25: 9 AM – 1 PM
  • Friday, January 31: 9 AM – 4 PM
  • Saturday, February 1: 9 AM – 1 PM

An added plus is that all of that wood and waste will be turned into mulch and firewood, which will eventually be made available to the general public. Everyone benefits, and your garden may even thank you for it in the future!
