Tattoo Artist Sparks Controversy for Tattooing American Flag on 9 Year-Old Girl

An unique circumstance was presented to a tattoo artist at Yuma, Arizona’s Black Onyx Empire Tattoo Parlor.

A couple who wanted to get a tattoo of President Donald Trump on their daughter’s neck brought their 9-year-old into his shop last year.

The Turkish family flew to Arizona especially for this tattoo since, in certain places, minors can have tattoos as long as their parents provide their permission.

According to Thompson Law Injury Lawyers, Arizona is one of such states.

Since he received the parents’ permission, the tattoo artist had no problem getting the child inked, but he wanted to provide them an alternative in case she subsequently came to regret getting a Trump neck tattoo.

Instead, he offered to have the American flag inked on the child’s arm as a patriotic design.

The young girl was urged by the tattoo artist to see how she felt about the flag on her arm for a year before he would think about getting the Trump portrait on her neck.

The child returned a year later, in January 2025, to have the red on the American flag touched up, the tattoo artist reveals in a video shared to Instagram. She had ultimately made up her mind not to get the Trump tattoo.

The comments section of the story above describing this incident is as hot as an Arizona summer, as you can only imagine.

As one reader puts it, “It’s ridiculous to get a 9-year-old tattooed! Where are the morals, and what were the parents thinking?

adds another: “In addition to your immorality, children’s skin doesn’t develop uniformly. This tattoo will be off-center when she becomes thirty. In the front, it will be a few inches from her armpit. I’ve seen elderly folks with childhood tattoos.

However, several people concurred with the tattoo artist that since the youngster requested it, it was acceptable to ink her.

“This is ridiculous. Why are people criticizing the child for having a tattoo? It seems like she gave her consent and her parents agreed. “It’s cool if it’s legal,” someone says. “Kid didn’t even pay for it; if she outgrows it, she may pay and hide it later. For discouraging her from getting a NECK tattoo, the tattoo artist is awesome.

Yuma’s local press outlets descended upon the tattoo spot to report on the incident. However, because everything was done in a proper and lawful manner, there won’t be any legal consequences.
