Over the past ten years, Keith Urban has split from two band members who have had a significant impact. One has really been with the artist for over 25 years, which is essentially his whole Nashville career.
In order to accompany Urban on the 2016 Ripcord Tour, the other is a true innovator who created his own musical instrument.
-
Urban’s
High and Alive World Tour
begins in May, but he has several shows scheduled before then.
-
His most recent album was
High
, released in September 2024. - It’s not clear how many band members were let go, but at least two have opened up on social media.
Before the 2025 touring season, Urban changed their roster, according to bandleader and bassist Jerry Flowers. With sorrow in his heart, he said,
I cherish the wonderful years we had together, and I will always have the deepest regard and love for Keith. I want to express my gratitude to all of my fans for their unwavering support over the years, and I hope that our performances have helped to bring you joy and happiness.
Flowers gave more than a little joy, based on the social media response from his fans.
According to one admirer, “You were the heart and soul of the band,” “The person who never failed to smile at us and make eye contact with the supporters around you. I will always remember how you made sure I occasionally got a guitar pick and one of your wristbands. We will miss you terribly! I hope the best for you in the future.
A number of people in the country music industry conveyed their amazement and sadness, while others expressed fury or contempt at Urban’s choice.
Tully Kennedy, a bass player for Jason Aldean, adds, “This is a huge loss for Keith and all his fans.” “You are such a bad ass and I gotta say this is makes no sense.”
Flowers is the author of several songs, including Aldean’s No. 1 single, “A Little More Summertime.”Two more are “House Party” by Sam Hunt and “Do I Make You Wanna” by Billy Currington.
Nathan Barlowe was equally as professional as Flowers when he announced his departure.
He posted on Instagram, saying, “I can’t express how grateful I am for the past nine years.” “I have given it my all and enjoyed every moment of it. I appreciate your belief in me, Keith.
The multi-instrumentalist Barlowe gained notoriety for creating an instrument known as “The Phantom.”Urban demonstrated it before the Ripcord Tour, describing how Barlowe could play licks from Urban’s album in real time using four iPads and a computer. More texture was added by the red and black machine. The touchscreens produced a “The Fighter” distinctive lick.
