Jamey Johnson was arrested on Sunday, November 17, in Williamson County, Tennessee, and has been charged with a Class E felony drug offense.
According to the Tennessee, the singer of “In Color” was accused of possessing drugs “with intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell the controlled substance.” Johnson was accused of speeding during the encounter as well.
A Class E felony drug possession charge carries a maximum $5,000 fine or a maximum jail sentence of six years, according to TN.gov.
WKRN, a news station in Middle Tennessee, gave additional information regarding the incident: According to arrest documents, Johnson was stopped just before 10 p.m. on Sunday night for speeding on I-65 North. Johnson was traveling at 87 mph in a 70 mph zone, according to the policeman.
Additionally, according to WKRN, the trooper claimed to have smelled marijuana in the car. Johnson allegedly acknowledged that the trooper might be smelling the odor and claimed to have “been around marijuana.” More than ten pre-rolled marijuana joints and “several” packets of marijuana were discovered, according to the trooper.
