Since the year 2000, country music has been extremely popular.
The genre (and the world at large) has experienced both some extremely high highs and some truly terrible lows over the last 25 years. There have also been other touchpoints throughout the years that have permanently influenced the music.
World events like the COVID-19 epidemic and the September 11 terrorist attacks are among the moments in this list. Both of those had an impact that went well beyond country music, but they also had a lasting impact on the genre, influencing timeless patriotic ballads and changing the way live music is performed.
